Prepare For Your Travel Appointment
Some Things To Keep In Mind
Our travel nurses are looking forward to your upcoming travel appointment. This will be a country-specific group Zoom appointment where you will be joined by others who will be going to the same country. At this group appointment, only generalized medical and safety travel advice will be shared. To keep this meeting HIPPA compliant, questions related to personal medical, psychological, and medication histories will not be discussed. If there are specific questions related to your medical, psychological, medication histories, and/or your vaccine history, please call 520-621-2292.
- We do not send zoom links for the actual group travel appointment. You'll join the group meeting using PatientLink. The link to join the meeting will not appear until your appointment time.
- Please be on time. If you are late to the zoom meeting, you will not be admitted and will be asked to reschedule. If you experience technical difficulties, please call us at 520-621-9202.
- The cost of the appointment is $20. To avoid no-show charges, you must give an hour cancellation notice. If you need to reschedule, please call 520-621-9202.
- At the end of this appointment, the travel nurse will sign off your health check on your Study Abroad portal.
Take These 3 Steps Prior To Your Travel Appointment:
STEP 1
Ensure that all of your forms (consent to treat, authorization to bill, and telehealth consent) have been completed through PatientLink (click on "forms" on the left column). This will take a little extra time on your part.
STEP 2
Review the recommended vaccinations and determine if you are in need of receiving any vaccines. Vaccines generally take at least 2 weeks to be effective. Please call 520-621-9202 or go online to schedule a vaccine appointment. The following are RECOMMENDED vaccines:
- COVID-19
- Hepatitis A - 2 shots series
- Hepatitis B - 2 or 3 shots (depending on brand)
- Influenza - every year (average season November - April)
- Meningitis ACWY - 2 shot series

- Tetanus (Td or Tdap) - every 10 years

STEP 3
You may consider enrolling with the US State Department (STEP program). The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program is a free service that allows U.S. citizens traveling or living abroad to receive the latest security updates from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
