Travel appointments are available to all students, faculty, and staff who are planning on traveling out of the country. Ideally, this visit should take place at least 4-6 weeks before travel. You may be scheduled 1-2 weeks out depending on availability.
What Happens at a Travel Appointment?
Our travel nurse will ask questions related to your medical and mental health history, currently prescribed medications, and your immunization health record. They will tailor travel health advice related to your health needs, lodging arrangements, activities, and destinations throughout your travel itinerary. This is a confidential appointment.

NOTE: Travel nurse appointments cannot provide clearance statements. Students who require a physician letter or clearance statement to enter a university’s program or for visa requirements, must obtain a separate appointment with a provider. If you have questions related to requirements specific for your travel abroad program or country, please seek assistance from your Study Abroad Coordinator.
Types of Travel Appointments
*Virtual: 10-20 minutes
Note: All patients need to be in the state of Arizona during their telehealth appointment.
In Person: 40 minutes
You will receive a personalized Travel Packet PDF at the appointment that includes packing suggestions and current information about health and security alerts, as well as COVID information related to your destination.
This 40-minute appointment is required to receive yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, and typhoid vaccines.
In-Person (3+ countries): 1 hour
You will receive a personalized Travel Packet at the appointment that includes packing suggestions and current information about health and security alerts, as well as COVID information related to your destination.
This appointment is for people traveling to 3 or more countries.
Scheduling Your Travel Appointment
Important Make your appointment 4-6 weeks before travel.

- If you require a 40-minute or longer travel appointment, please call Campus Health at 520-621-9202
- Note: you may be scheduled 1-2 weeks out depending on availability.
- If you are making your appointment via phone, please have the following information:
- Student ID #
- Country or all destinations included in your total travel program
- Dates of travel
- Lodging arrangements, for example, hostel, dorm, hotel, or shared housing such as an apartment or private home
- Activities: classroom, outdoor areas (fields, mountains, bodies of water, sand, etc.)
- Knowledge of or reference to immunization record
- Bring a current immunization record to your appointment or upload it to PatientLink prior to your appointment.
For Study Abroad Only: After your appointment, the nurse will verify your travel consult been has completed with Study Abroad. No health information will be shared.

Upon your travel health appointment confirmation, you will receive an email that includes a personalized Travel Packet. The morning of your appointment, you must complete and submit a questionnaire and consent forms through PatientLink.

- Submit the questionnaire and sign all consents the morning of the appointment
- Log into PatientLink and be ready to receive the ZOOM link approximately 5 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment time
- Find a comfortable and quiet space to speak with the nurse throughout the ZOOM appointment
- This appointment will be approximately 20 minutes
- Be prepared to verify your name and date of birth at the start of the appointment
The Check-In area for Campus Health Travel Appointments is located in the same area as Sports Medicine on the ground floor.
- Please arrive 15 minutes prior to appointment time.
- Complete a questionnaire and consent forms prior to the appointment or once you “check-in.”
- You will receive your personalized Travel Packet and additional travel handouts while speaking with the travel health nurse.
- Be prepared to verify your name and date of birth at the start of the appointment.
- Vaccines or updates to your immunizations will be administered during the appointment.

If you do not know your itinerary, we are not able to give you the most up-to-date information.

Yes! You may have had some vaccines already and not need more. Likewise, you may need boosters of some vaccines. Without your previous vaccine records, it may be hard to best determine your needs. However, it is acceptable if you do not have your records but know your vaccine history.
