SAGA (Southern Arizona Gender Alliance)

SAGA offers all manner of information, support and education through their website, a Speaker’s bureau, and periodic workshops and trainings for the trans community. SAGA also sponsors and holds annual Camp Born This Way for trans kids and their families. (Contact: PO Box 41863, Tucson, AZ 85717 520-477-7096)

SAGA offers support, social, and discussion groups regularly. Current schedule:

  • SAGA General meeting (news, announcements, business, guest speakers, discussion) meets on the first Monday of every month at 7:00 - 9:00pm, Studio One, 197 E. Toole Ave, Tucson
  • Dezert Girlz (trans feminine spectrum) meets - second Mondays at 7:00 - 9:00pm, Studio One.
  • Dezert Boyz (trans masculine spectrum) meets - fourth Tuesday at 7:00 - 9:00pm at Studio One.
  • Dezert Counselorz group for therapists who work with GSM (Gender and Sexual Minority) clients meets - third Saturday at 10:00 - 11:30 am. (Call Martie at 520-603-3204 for location.)
  • Trans Parents group for parents of gender non-conforming children and teenagers meets at the home of one of the parents. Email transparents@sagatucson.org for details.
  • SAGA Working Group/Advisory Council meets - second Tuesday. All trans persons and allies are invited to attend, volunteer, and participate in determining the activities and future of SAGA. City of Tucson's Ward III Office, 1510 E. Grant Road.
  • Gender Outlawz (non-binary identities) meets - third Mondays at Studio One.
  • Dezert Advocatz (social justice analysis and action) meets -third Thursdays at Studio One.
  • Dezert Partnerz (for partners of trans-identified people) meets - fourth Mondays at Studio One.

LGBTQI Grief and Loss Support Group. For individuals 18 and over who are looking for safe and accepting space to share about their loss will meet at Soreo Hospice 2475 E. Water Street. Information: Samantha Hebert (520) 547-7000 or Samantha@soreo.com

Southern AZ Veteran’s Administration Healthcare System holds a Veterans support group for all who identify as transgender, in any stage of transitioning.  It meets weekly for 1.5 hours – time and location given at referral. Must be VA-enrolled. To enroll call 520-629-4888 to enroll in VA., and at intake, let them know you need a referral for the Trans Support Group, facilitated by Lynn Kucieski (792-1450 ext 3996) and Ande Burkholder (792-1450 ext. 6883.) There may be a co-pay, usually there is not.

El Rio Health Clinic has trans* specialty clinic, informed consent model (no letter needed for hormone treatment.
