Discover The Health Promotion Hideaway: A Place for Connection, Relaxation, and Creativity
Campus Health's Health Promotion Hideaway, often referred to as “the Hideaway” by students, is a hidden gem on campus for students looking to relax, de-stress, and connect. Nestled in the heart of the Bear Down Building on the first floor, this cozy space provides a welcoming environment that regulars describe as a place to unwind, take breaks between classes, and find community. Many have seen it as a space to meet new people or simply recharge, with one student stating it was “just what they needed.”
In its third year serving students, the Hideaway’s commitment to supporting student health and wellness continues. In the latest Hideaway Engagement Survey, 76% of students say that they found a space for stress relief, over a third of students who visited the Hideaway report that they made new friends during their visits.
What Can You Expect at the Hideaway?
The Wellness Lounge is a favorite spot for students. With couches, oversized bean bag chairs, Legos, and fidget tools, students can truly de-stress and relax. The space also has a a fridge, free snacks, and plenty of information about Campus Health and other campus resources including free upcoming events. For students looking for tools to manage their health independently, the DIY Wellness Resource wall offers self-care plans, sleep trackers, time management worksheets, and more.
The Hideaway also features a classroom space stocked with art supplies, games. From painting to playing Uno, the space encourages creativity and connection. Students often find themselves studying or exploring their creative sides with friends.
The back of the Hideaway houses three offices where Health Educators and student volunteers are available to provide guidance, answer questions, and offer opportunities to get involved on campus.
Events & Special Programming
The Hideaway doesn’t just offer a space to relax and take a break—it’s also home to a range of special wellness events. A student favorite is Chats With Cats, happening once a month where students can play with kitten from The Hermitage and Hunter’s Kitten Lounge. Every Monday, students can laugh and play with a therapy dog at Pa(w)se for Pets thanks to regular visits from the Humane Society Pet VIP. Art lovers and those learning to love art can participate in Drop-In Arts & Crafts every Wednesday 2-4pm hosted by Museum of Art, Counseling & Psych Services staff, and student volunteers.

With its comfortable atmosphere and wide array of wellness activities, the Hideaway is the place for students seeking support and community. Open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, the Hideaway is ready to welcome any student looking to take a break, play a game, support their wellbeing or make new friends.
