Excitement is building as Campus Health prepares to host its 2nd annual Wellness Summit on Friday, March 21st. This free event is designed to foster a more connected campus community. Organized by the Health Promotion Team, the summit welcomes students, staff, and faculty to engage in meaningful conversations about mental health, substance use, and overall well-being—critical topics in the ever-evolving landscape of college health.

The Wellness Summit isn’t just about learning—it’s about action. Through open dialogue, increased awareness, and hands-on skill-building, this event empowers individuals to take tangible steps toward a healthier campus culture.

Engaging Sessions and Expert-Led Discussions

One of the featured sessions, "Celebrating Progress in the Mental Health and Substance Use Fields – People, Programs, and Policies," will be presented by Assistant Research Professor Dr. Bridget Murphy. This session will highlight the key individuals, initiatives, and policies driving meaningful advancements in these areas. Additionally, Counseling and Psych Services (CAPS) will facilitate an interactive mental health workshop, providing participants with practical tools to support their well-being.

For those looking to enhance their personal self-care routines, Health Educator Ryely Tegler will lead a hands-on session where participants can create a customized self-care menu—a valuable strategy for managing life’s ups and downs.

The summit will conclude with a listening session facilitated by ABOR Student Regents, offering students, staff, and faculty a platform to discuss campus mental health concerns. This session provides a unique opportunity to influence policies and strengthen campus support systems.

A Community-Driven Approach to Wellness

Health Educator Elsa Loya emphasizes the summit’s impact, stating, “The Wellness Summit provides a valuable opportunity for our campus community to come together, engage in meaningful discussions, and explore ways to enhance access to resources and programming.”
