Campus Health Earns 3-Year Reaccreditation
The University of Arizona Campus Health Service has successfully earned another three-years of accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), affirming its commitment to high-quality care and patient safety.
The health center first received accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) in 1978 and has been accredited by AAAHC since 1981. Only about 11% of college health centers receive this distinction across the U.S.
“Accreditation demonstrates that we meet the most current, rigorous national standards, across all facets of Campus Health” said David Salafsky, DrPH, Executive Director. “For our patients and their families, it’s a seal of approval that speaks to the quality of care here and the value we place on continuous improvement.”
AAAHC is a non-profit organization that accredits outpatient healthcare facilities, including university health centers, medical practices, and surgical centers. The fact that Campus Health has maintained continuous accreditation for over 44 years, despite it being a voluntary process, further highlights its pursuit of excellence.
In November 2024, surveyors conducted a two-day on-site review at Campus Health, where they examined patient care, organizational processes and policies, and observed work flow and documentation. The current accreditation extends through December 31, 2027.
Campus Health serves as a key resource for University of Arizona students, offering a wide range of services, including counseling, primary care, same-day appointments, immunizations, physical therapy and much more. According to the 2024 Health and Wellness Survey, 97% of students who used Campus Health said the services helped them stay enrolled at the university.
