Balancing Goals and Self-Care: Campus Health Has You Covered
College students often navigate the start of the semester with a blend of excitement and stress. Leslie Ralph, Clinical Psychologist at CAPS emphasizes that, “students come in with a lot of academic goals and we talk about how you can do that while supporting yourself as a whole person.” Creating sustainable plans for the semester means balancing academics with sleep, nutrition, mental health, and body movement. Students can take charge of their self-care by utilizing Campus Health, conveniently located on campus, to support their well-being in all these areas.
Campus Health offers a wide range of comprehensive, compassionate and quality services to meet students where they are at in achieving their wellness goals. Whether it’s getting help when they are sick, managing stress, or fostering community connections, students can find services and resources to support their goals.
Physical Health Services
For those looking to prioritize their physical health, Campus Health makes it easy to access essential services like urgent care, annual physicals, express STI testing, and flu shots. These offerings aim to keep students healthy and active, so they can make the most out of their semester.
Mental Health Services
Mental health and personal growth are also key focus areas. Campus Health Counseling and Psych Services (CAPS) hosts free workshops and support groups on topics such as managing depression and anxiety, improving focus, building a healthier relationship with food and body image, and fostering connections among LGBTQIA+2S students. CAPS also offers as needed 1:1 mental health support.
Art & Connection Resources
Students looking for a creative outlet, can attend "Craft and Chat," held every Wednesday from 2-4 PM at the Hideaway. This weekly event offers a relaxing space for students to unwind while engaging in artistic activities. Health Educator, Ryley Tegler, highlights the importance of the Hideaway, "a dedicated space for students to meet new friends and establish healthy habits, like taking breaks for stress relief."
Campus Health Events
Additionally, Campus Health events provide opportunities to connect with peers, explore harm reduction strategies, learn about campus resources, and even decorate a free succulent pot. With a meaningful and accessible approach, Campus Health is dedicated to supporting students here and beyond.
