How can I volunteer at Campus Health?
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Campus Health! There are many opportunities to gain experience, depending on your major, expierence, and career aspirations. See below:
Health Promotion and Preventive Services (HPPS)
For volunteer and internship opportunities with HPPS, please contact their department directly at (520) 621-6483. You will be directed to the appropriate staff member.
• To apply to be a Stressbuster (the free back-rub program), contact Lee Ann Hamilton at firstname.lastname@example.org or apply online. Applications are due by mid-September and the annual training happens at the end of September.
• To join Active Minds, the mental health advocacy group, visit their Facebook page
• To apply to be a Body Positive volunteer, contact Lisa Macdonald at email@example.com Applications are due in November.
Nursing & Medicine
We currently have student volunteers shadowing primarily the nursing staff and in some cases, the medical providers. The nurse/provider that you shadow must first ask permission from the patient to allow you into the room. If you are permitted in the room, you will be trusted with information you must keep confidential. With time, you will become more comfortable interacting with health care professionals and patients, utilize your anatomy, physiology and pharmacology knowledge, as well as see how health care is delivered in a clinic setting.
**Please Note: The application process is closed. We will be accepting applications for volunteers February 1, 2019 - March 1, 2019**. Here is the link to the application: https://www.campushealth.arizona.edu/volunteer-application-form
We will interview candidates in April - May to fill volunteer positions for the following academic year. Please note that our clinic hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8am - 5pm and Wednesdays from 9am - 5pm.
If you are selected to join the volunteer staff, you must meet with Patricia Morales, our Human Resources Representative, to demonstrate that you have completed FERPA, HIPAA, Harassment and Blood Borne Pathogens training, and signed the Campus Health Service confidentiality agreement. You will also need to meet with our Immunization Nurse who will make sure you have the appropriate immunizations necessary to keep you safe in our clinic. You are responsible for costs of immunizations or titers needed for you to volunteer in our clinic.
Counseling and Psych Services (CAPS)
CAPS does not take student volunteers and any internships/externships are done through their respective colleges.
If you have further questions about the volunteer opportunities at Campus Health, please contact Patricia Morales at: firstname.lastname@example.org or (520) 626-6903.
