UA Policies And Resources For LGBTQIA Students

Campus Non-Discrimination Policy

University of Arizona’s non-discrimination and anti-harassment policy includes sexual orientation and gender identity. Find out more about university policy and your rights at the Title IX Office.

The UA non-discrimination policy assures that:

  • Students may use the restroom that most closely matches their gender identity. The policy also assures that newly constructed buildings will offer gender-neutral restrooms. Locate gender-neutral facilities with this map.
  • Those students who have enrolled in the Aetna Student Health Plan have some transition-related coverage. Counseling, cross hormone treatment, surgery, tracheal shave and electrolysis are covered. (Log into your Aetna Navigator® secure website at for detailed information about this covered benefit, including eligibility requirements in Aetna’s clinical policy bulletin #0615. You can also call Member Services at the toll-free number on the back of your ID card.)
  • Students may use preferred or chosen names in much of their documentation.
