How do you define wellness? 

Is it physical fitness and health? Or maybe happiness? What about a rich personal life? Or maybe a feeling of energy, peace, or freedom?

Your definition of wellness is as unique as your fingerprint, built over your lifetime through life experiences, good and bad, relationships, summer jobs, close calls, and spectacular home runs. Your ever-refining personal preferences and tastes shape your idea of wellness, as does your ever-changing body and ever-growing mind.

Thinking about what it means to be well now, it was probably hard to decide. That's because wellness is encompasses everything. It’s the complete picture of you. It’s your health, your happiness, your home life and work life, your environment, financial stability, job satisfaction, intellectual stimulation, and everything in between.

And as you can imagine, what makes one person well might make another feel exhausted or bored or lonely. That’s even true for you from one day to the next. What you need to be well today might be different from what you need to be well tomorrow.

Life keeps on moving, and your needs move right along with it. So, it helps to think of wellness as a dynamic process to flow with rather than a static state to achieve. Wellness, then, is the process of paying attention, learning, and making the choices that help you live a healthy and fulfilling life.

So...where do you begin?

Wellness, in all its complexity, can be simple to understand when you know the common needs we all share. These are known as domains of wellness. Think of these as the building blocks to a healthy, happy, thriving life. Getting to know where you stand, what you want, and what you need in each domain helps you pick and choose the pieces that will forge your unique wellness path.
