UA Non-Discrimination Policy

University of Arizona’s non-discrimination policy includes sexual orientation and gender identity:

Title IX Office

UA non-discrimination policy assures that students may use the restroom that most closely matches their gender identity. Map of Gender-Neutral Facilities:   The policy also assures that newly constructed buildings will offer gender-neutral restrooms.

Transition-Related Insurance Coverage

Those students who have enrolled in the Aetna Student Health Plan have some transition-related coverage. Cross hormone treatment, top surgery, some bottom surgery – while much surgical transition is considered cosmetic, there is coverage available!

Preferred or Chosen Names

Use preferred or chosen names in much of documentation.

LGBTQIA Resources and Services at UA

Speech Feminization Treatment: Offered through the UA Speech and Hearing Clinic (520-621-7070, can ask for Janet Hawley, 1131 E 2nd St.) Services include extensive pre- and post-treatment evaluation (including body language, gestures, intonation patterns, posture, proxemics, as well as vocal pitch and tone. Eval - $200, Group sessions - $35 (when there are at least three participants), Individual - $80.

Gender Spectrum Group (  Mondays, 3-4, 3rd Floor Campus Health, $10/meeting.

LGBTQIA Support group ( Tuesdays, 4-5:30, SUMC Rm 412, free.

QPOC and Two Spirit Discussion Group, Tuesdays, 5 pm, LGBTQ Resource Center, free.

Housing/Residence Life provides gender neutral and LGBTQA affirmative Social Justice Wing.
